Anyone would think it's winter!

Tomato glut?

This sauce is seriously yummy. It smells good, the texture is perfect and the taste.... it's fresh and so not store bought!!

 It would also make a lovely hostess gift.

From the recipe below it yielded (is that the right word?) the four jars you see and another half full.

Spicy tomato sauce

4lbs (2kg) ripe tomatoes

1lb (500g) sugar

1 1/2 tspn ground cloves

1/4 tspn cayenne

15g ground black pepper corns

1lb (500g) onions

500ml malt vinegar

25g mixed spice

30g salt

Simmer all ingredients together for 2 hours. Sieve or mouli, then bottle.

Don't forget to sterilise those jars!

Fond memories...

Isn't it funny how things stir up memories of the past? For me, these fisherman lanterns we have just had installed in our house remind me of living in England. The creme lantern was an 3rd anniversary gift! The Handsome Honey told me that he had bought me 'something electrical' - I was a little concerned that it might be an alarm clock or something boring! But I was thrilled when I saw it was the lantern I had admired in a Country Living magazine (my fav mag!) The silver lanterns were an IKEA purchase. Don't need to say much more than that... except that I miss IKEA!!!! So.... after being stuck in boxes for the last 5 years, my gorgeous lights are now up!

Our boy turns 3 tomorrow....

This is the world's sweetest 'almost three year old'.

He loves Thomas the Tank Engine, diggers and loaders and tractors....

And us. He tells us all many times each day how much he loves us.
